This project took me 5 years to finally say that Square is now a completed project. You can pre-order now and the game will release on 12/19/2023. Available for Windows.

I did have many challenges on the game’s creation. First, I had to get a feel for the software I was using, Game Maker Studio. Second, I had to learn how to code a platformer because I never have done that before. I looked online for tutorials. Shawn Spaulding, a YouTuber, has videos on platformer tutorials for Game Maker that were the most informative to me.

As I worked on Square, I kept feeling that I was not making great progress. So, I decided to show off what I did have to the public by releasing a Beta. The feedback I received was informative and heart breaking at the same time. I realized it was only a small group of people that gave me these reviews, but it gave me the information I needed to make things better.

A year went by and I felt it was important for me to upgrade my software to Game Maker Studio 2. I rewrote every piece of code from scratch. Within months, I had everything re-created. When I compared the 2 projects side by side, the new one looked and felt better and I was proud of it. From that moment on, I was able to make myself a promise. I will complete creating this game and nothing will stop me from achieving that goal. 

Now, Square is complete and I am still in misbelief. It may not look like much, but this is one of my greatest achievements.
